Goshen City president and founder Prophet Shepherd Bushiri has injected K500 million towards the second season of Malawi has talent.

Times Group launched the show in 2023 to uncover talent across the country and provide a platform for talented individuals.

“As an emerging smart city, our belief is in the potential that lies within the country’s creatives. We want to celebrate the talent that Malawi has and bridge the business gap that exists in this sector,” he said.

Bushiri added that talent shows have globally helped people gain recognition and exposure and hoped the platform will do the same for local talent.

“This is free promotion of talent and exposure for anyone who has talent. We will continue nurturing talent and provide a platform for it to shine,” he said.

Bushiri said the best acts will perform at the partial launch of Goshen City in Mangochi later this year.

The winner of this year’s competition will walk away with K35 million, an increase from K20 million. The competition will include all art disciplines such as music, dance, acting and poetry.

Ministry of Local Government, Unity and Culture director of arts Humphreys Mpondaminga hailed the partnership for putting a spotlight on the arts.

“The essence and value of the arts to society come out when talent is given an appropriate platform like this. We are pleased that the second season is back for artists to shine,” he said.

Times Group head of marketing Ralph Chirwa said the talent show will be key in unearthing talent in the country.

“We are committed to giving every Malawian with talent space to participate,” he said.

The judges include poet Q Malewezi, musician Wendy Harawa and music promoter-cum lawyer Jai Banda.

The show will be televised from the scouting phase which starts on April 19 to August 23
